BANGALORE: TV freaks in Bangalore andcouch potatoes can probably have hope. Hope that they may sometime on Tuesday beable to catch up with their favourite, movies, music and.
Cable TVoperators have been into vigorous discussions through late Monday evening tosettle matters (hopefully for good) to put back on air Sony and Star networkchannles, after a hiatus of nearly five days.
After a detailedmeeting between the Karnataka State Cable TV Operators Association, broadcasterStar, and Multi System Operators (MSO)s on Monday, it was decided to resumetelecast of these channels, after having gone off air from January 8, saidSudhish Kumar, spokesperson of the Association. But a slight ''hitch'' in thediscussions meant that the channels will not go on air till around Tuesdayafternoon, he said. There is no confirmation yet on the date and time that thesechannels will resume. There will, however be no hike in price forsubscribers.
The problem cropped up when around 150 Siti Cableoperators defected from their network to join InCable. Siti Cable had not paidup arrears of Rs 2.5 crore to the broadcasters, who in turn snapped links.Unable to face subscriber complaints, operators shifted toInCable.
But Star and Sony cut off links to InCable too on groundsthat the company did not provide information on the additional subscribers withthe joining of these 250 operators. Most affected were cable viewers inIndiranagar, parts of Jaynagar and J P Nagar, Chickpet and surrounding areasthat InCable catered to.
